Success factors in system development

  • In [1] we find an overview of success factors, based on other literature. Examples of success factors: clear realistic objectives, realistic schedule, skilled team, adequate budget, proven technology, risks assessed, and user involvement.
  • In [2], success factors are used to discuss a more advanced approach for system development. The factors used include top management support, project team competence,

interdepartmental co-operation, clear goals and objectives, project management and management of expectations.

  • In [3] we find an overview of success factors in data management. Although this is not the same as system development, there is some overlap.
  • In [4] we do not find an overview of success factors. Instead, it is discussed how the critical success factors in a specific project can be determined. A number of aspects are treated, for example how success can be quantified and what information is available to track the success factors relevant in that specific project.
  • The discussion in [5] is about the classification of success factors.
  • In [6] we find critical success factors such as management commitment, team capability and customer involvement.
